Samir Foundation

Our Story

From loss, to responsibility, to rebuilding a healthcare system.

The Beginning
Under Siege

Family

Twenty members of his family had been killed

In 2023, as Gaza endured one of the most devastating periods in its history, healthcare systems were pushed to the brink of collapse.

During this time, Ezz, then a medical student, volunteered at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, providing care to the wounded under constant bombardment and extreme conditions.

Amid chaos, uncertainty, and overwhelming need, the reality of a collapsing healthcare system became undeniable.

When Loss
Becomes Purpose

From that profound loss emerged a new sense of purpose.

Rather than allowing grief to define the end of a story, it became the beginning of something greater,  a commitment to transform pain into action.

As a medical student who had witnessed both the fragility and resilience of Gaza’s healthcare system, Izzeddin chose to dedicate himself to supporting those who continue to serve under unimaginable conditions.

When Loss Becomes Purpose

The Birth of Samir Foundation

In 2024, the Samir Foundation was established in memory of his father, Samir, growing from an emergency response into an initiative focused on strengthening Palestine’s healthcare system.

The Foundation is committed to strengthening the healthcare system in Palestine by supporting healthcare professionals and investing in the new generation of qualified practitioners.

Through this approach, it contributes to building a resilient and sustainable healthcare system capable of meeting current and future needs.
