Amid Profound Loss: Mohamed’s Journey to Fulfill His Dream

Mohamed’s story changed in a moment without warning. Having lost his family members in an airstrike, he was the sole survivor. He joined the faculty of medicine, hoping to fulfill his late parent’s dream.

His Story

Mohammed Ghorab, a medical student at The Islamic University in Gaza.

During the war on Gaza, Mohammed’s fate suffered a tragic twist. He had lost his mother at an earlier age, and in the gruesome war, he lost his father, his two sisters, and his brother, whose wedding was supposed to be held merely one day after the day of the tragic loss.

Mohammed was the sole survivor in his family, carrying memories of loved ones who were. After this loss, Mohammed’s well-being, both biologically and psychologically, was in no good shape. However, he persisted through high school, scored an astonishing GPA, and managed to enroll in the Faculty of Medicine, fulfilling the wishes of his late mother and father, and starting his medical journey.

The Impact of the Scholarship

Mohammed’s loss was beyond what any mind could fathom. Tuition coverage via the Samir Scholarship stemmed from our belief in his persistence and perseverance to continue his education. Helping him not only financially, but ensuring he knows that he is not alone.
