Keeping His Father’s Legacy Alive
His Story
Ahmed Al-Sultan, A medical student at the Islamic University in Gaza, son of Dr. Marwan Al- Sultan (consultant cardiologist and Medical Director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza).
During the 2023 war on Gaza, Ahmed had lost his parents, sister, and brother-in-law in a tragic strike targeting their home. He was then left to fill in his father’s shoes, both as a man and a medical doctor.
Despite the tragedy, Ahmed’s will to continue his medical education was now unwavering, with the legacy and name of his father as his compass.
The Impact of the Scholarship
Losing his father meant losing his family’s source of income, leaving his education at risk. The Samir Scholarship insured that this would not mean the end of Ahmed’s journey by providing him with tuition support.
This scholarship did not only help Ahmed continue his medical education. It backed up his will to keep his father’s legacy alive.
“May God grant me the ability to be Dr. Ahmed, son of Dr. Marwan, so that Dr. Marwan’s name remains alive.”
— Ahmed Marwan Al-Sultan
