Samir Foundation and Fajr Global Launch Clinical and Surgical Skills Enhancement Program for Over 680 Medical Students in Gaza

Bridging the Gap in Clinical Training for the Next Generation of Doctors

The Samir Foundation, in partnership with Fajr Global, has taken an exceptional step in addressing one of the most pressing consequences of the ongoing war in Gaza, the near-complete disruption of hands-on clinical training for medical students. Together, the two organizations launched the “Clinical and Surgical Skills Enhancement Program,” a structured initiative designed to compensate for the loss of practical training opportunities that medical students would ordinarily receive as a core part of their education. The program has already reached over 680 male and female students across the Gaza Strip, making it one of the most significant medical education interventions undertaken during this period.

The practical sessions at the heart of this program are designed to equip students with the essential clinical and surgical skills they need to function effectively as future doctors, skills that cannot be learned from textbooks alone. Recognizing that war conditions have severed students’ access to hospital-based training environments, the program brings structured, hands-on learning directly to them, ensuring that the absence of normal clinical rotations does not translate into a permanent gap in their medical competence. Every session is a step toward preparing these students to confidently and efficiently support a healthcare system that will urgently need them in the days ahead.

The Samir Foundation and Fajr Global are immensely proud of the dedication and resilience shown by every student who has participated in this program. Showing up to learn, practice, and grow in the midst of such overwhelming adversity is a testament to the character of Gaza’s future medical professionals. This program is more than a training initiative, it is a declaration that the development of skilled doctors will not be paused by war, and that the foundation and its partners will continue to find innovative ways to keep medical education alive and moving forward, no matter the circumstances.
